Check An Inn | Six Senses Rome, Italy

A dreamy Roman holiday is incomplete without a stay at the brand-new Six Senses Rome. Nestled in the heart of the city, this exquisite hotel places you right in the middle of all the action. Its prime location, combined with its original palazzo-style architecture honours its historic roots and offers an urban-luxe experience unlike any other. From exploring iconic landmarks within a few steps to enjoying modern comforts, Six Senses Rome seamlessly blends classic tradition with opulence, making it the perfect haven for those looking for an ultra-luxurious yet historical stay experience. Our founders, Sanjay Arya & Shilpa Arya, stayed at Six Senses Rome and this is their review of this iconic property.

The Place | Location and Setting

The hotel is conveniently located in the heart of Rome, just a two-minute walk to the Pantheon and the Trevi Fountain and the small shops, churches, and eateries of the Trevi neighbourhood, although a bit bustling, it’s a lovely crowded corner of the city to wander around. Its prominent location makes it ideal for exploring the city on foot, minimising travel time amidst Rome's notorious traffic. A slightly longer walk takes you to the Roman Forum, the Spanish Steps, and a myriad of other attractions, including more churches, more cafes, galleries, museums, and shops.

Space | Rooms and Facilities

Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola infused the property with delicate elements that pay homage to Rome’s rich architectural heritage. The cocooning interiors feature a blend of modern and classic, highlighted by a beautiful pink and white marble staircase, original from the Palazzo Salviati Cesi Mellin before its present incarnation. It is the focal point inside the property that restores its Palazzo-like feel. The rooms are softened by a neutral palette punctuated with gentle colours and geometric elements displayed through rugs, furniture and pendant lighting. The blend of natural textiles, warm woods, and luxurious amenities ensures a restful and indulgent stay.

Vibe | People and Experience

Upon arrival, the staff courteously assisted with luggage from the busy street into the hotel since there was no foyer. Mr Sanjay was welcomed warmly by Francesca Gori, the Director of Sales and Marketing at Six Senses Rome. Throughout the stay, the staff was kind and accommodating to all needs, including specific dietary requirements according to a vegetarian, vegan diet.

Taste | Food and Beverage

The hotel includes a spacious, open-air restaurant, cafe and bar, BIVIUM offering a pleasant, laid-back dining experience featuring modern Italian and Roman cuisines with plant-based options as well. The NOTOS Rooftop is one of the most sought-after spaces for a relaxed romantic evening whilst enjoying stunning views of Rome's historical landmarks.

Special dietary requests, like vegetarian options, were accommodated with flexibility and creativity, which led to a pleasant and warm experience.

Best Pizza Place Recommendation: If you’re a pizza enthusiast, don’t miss Emma Restaurant at Via del Monte della Farina. It’s one of the best pizzerias for authentic localised Roman-style pizza. It’s merely a 15-minute walk from the hotel.

Verdict | Summary

A standout feature is the Roman baths in the basement spa area, which maintain the essence of the ancient Roman baths with modern infrastructure and amenities. These baths feature pools of varying temperatures—hot, warm, and cold—traditionally known as the caldarium, tepidarium, and frigidarium.

Overall, it was a delightful experience at Hotel Six Senses Rome, noting its central location, a tasteful blend of modern and historic elements, excellent service, and standout spa facilities. It's recommended as a top choice for those looking to explore Rome conveniently and comfortably.
