The Wonderful World of Private Terminals

Ever wondered how celebrities and the world's rich and famous get through crowded airport terminals without getting mobbed? Well they don't. The latest trend in ultra luxury travel is the advent of the "Airport by Invitation" or the Private Terminal.

Los Angeles Airport recently announced that it would be opening the first private terminal in the USA, with just 13 suites each with its own bathroom, and an assigned staff of eight people, including one dedicated to baggage handling. “It typically takes 2,200 footsteps from car seat to plane seat,” the new terminal says. “For members of The Private Suite, it’s 70 footsteps. And they are all peaceful footsteps.”

While LAX may be the newest private terminal, it's certainly not the first. This service is available at more than 40 destinations, mainly at major European, Gulf, and select Asian Airports. It goes without saying that member's can request this service and the PureLuxe concierge will be more than happy to arrange it, but what exactly is the benefit, and what does it cost. 

The biggest benefit, is obviously time and convenience. A private terminal means no queues, and no waiting. Just sit back and relax while all immigration and customs formalities are completed in suite and be whisked to or from the the flight without any of the lengthy terminal walks. The second major is privacy, since the terminal is totally isolated from the public, and usually has discrete entrances far from the paparazzi. All this service comes at a price though, and the service usually costs between $2000 and $5000 each way depending on the airport.
