About the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park

In September 2016, Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London embarked on an exciting restoration designed to significantly enhance the facilities of the hotel. The property will remain open throughout the 18-month renovation, which will be undertaken in two phases in order to minimise disruption to guests.
24 Hours
07:30 – Receive friendly wakeup call from the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park call centre. The coffee that they offered arrives shortly after.
08:30 – Arrive for my Wellness Breakfast by Ruben Tabares in our picturesque breakfast room overlooking Hyde Park. The Household Cavalry ride past just after 10:00.
10:30 – Take a walk around the hotel’s public areas to see that all is in place before taking the hotel’s Chauffeur driven Bentley Flying Spur to Bond Street to pick up some gifts for guests.
12:00 – Make my way to the Dover Street Arts Club to meet some clients for lunch. I order the Dover Sole in beurre noisette, spring peas, beans with chervil. It is Britain’s King of fish!
14:00 – A guest of one of our top suites has asked that I have the hotel Concierge source a ball gown and some jewels for the evening. The Concierge has Oscar de la Renta couture and Calleija jewels deliver some options to the hotel for the guest. I return to the hotel inspect and look over the selection that has arrived. I ask our Footman to meet the Butler to deliver to the suite and Valet are on call for any fitting matters.
15:00 – I meet with one of our most regular guests in our Rosebery Tea Room who has returned to London on business. We talk about many things including his desire to send his corporation on a familiarisation trip to London during the Wimbledon All England Lawn Tennis Championships. Our Concierge team has the very best access to hospitality and debenture tickets for his group. We also arrange a dinner that evening after the tennis in our Loggia Room, with access to our terrace for drinks and canapes overlooking Hyde Park. A lovely way to spend a warm Summer’s evening.
17:00 – I receive a call from my PA, informing me that we have a family arriving from India. It is their desire to attend the Royal Enclosure at Royal Ascot for the races. They would like to be certain to see the Queen and other members of the Royal Family. Our Concierge take care of the arrangments. They will also need access to the car park for our hotel chauffeur for a little picnic before. We have an excellent outside catering department that prepare a little pre race picnic to have from the back of the vehicle, it is tradition afterall!
18:00 – I meet with our Executive Team and selected guests at the bar in Bar Bould for a cocktail. It is s great way for the management to mix with our etseemed guests.
19:00 – I attend a reception at the French Embassy nearby, we have a great relationship with the nearby Embassies.
20:00 – I make my way to Annabel’s on Berkeley Square to meet friends and guests for dinner. We stay on to enjoy the music and atmosphere.
23:00 – Our hotel chauffeur awaits outside to take us all back to the Mandarin Oriental to the Mandarin Bar for a nightcap. Our team at the bar make an excellent late night drink.
24:00 – Bedtime – the room is beautifully turned down by Housekeeping, the lights dimly lit and the curtains drawn and the bed prpeared to perfection.
